I am a self proclaimed choco-holic.  If chocolate is near me I have to eat it.  Therefore, I do my very best to keep it out of the house.  Unless, of course, I need ingredients for the sole purpose of cooking.  But then I whip some delicious chocolate dessert and have the finished product staring me in the face begging me to eat it.  I have quite a unique love/hate relationship with chocolate and all things sweet for that matter.  These chocolate cigars are extremely easy to make, especially when you purchase the pre-made puff pastry dough.

Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry shell, thawed
1 egg, beaten
1 (12 ounce) bag semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Instructions: Pre-heat oven to 375°F.

Unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.  Cut the pastry sheet along the folds.  Then cut into 12 (3 x 2 1/2-inch) rectangles.  Brush the short ends of each rectangle with egg, just enough so once rolled the egg will hold the pastry together. Place about 1 teaspoon of chocolate in the center of each rectangle.  Starting at the non-egg coated end roll up pastry.  Place the filled pastries onto a baking sheet. Brush with the egg.

Bake for 15 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown.  Remove the pastries from the baking sheet and let cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.  Sprinkle the pastries with the confectioners’ sugar and drizzle with chocolate sauce.

Chocolate Sauce:

Cook and stir the remaining chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons butter in a heavy 1-quart saucepan over low heat until the mixture is melted and smooth.  Stir in the confectioners’ sugar (as needed to thicken).  Stir in hot water, adding additional water, if necessary, until desired consistency. Drizzle the icing over pastries.
